Worcester Dragon Boat Racing Club Hosts Successful Race the Dragon 2026
Worcester Dragon Boat Racing Club held its annual Race the Dragon (RTD) event on 27 June 2026, bringing together nine crews to compete over the exciting 200-metre sprint course.
The event was blessed with glorious sunshine throughout the day, creating the perfect setting for a fantastic atmosphere. Spectators lined the riverside, cheering on the crews as they battled through a series of closely contested races, with determination, teamwork and sportsmanship on display from every team.
This year’s Race the Dragon was held in support of St Richard’s Hospice, Worcester Dragons’ chosen charity for 2026. The club dedicated the event to the memory of a much-loved member who received care from St Richard’s Hospice before their passing. By supporting the hospice, the club hopes to give something back in recognition of the outstanding care and compassion shown to both their member and their family.
Worcester Dragon Boat Racing Club would like to thank all of the crews, volunteers, supporters and spectators who helped make this year’s Race the Dragon such a memorable and successful event. The club also extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who donated in support of St Richard’s Hospice, helping to make a meaningful difference through the day’s fundraising efforts.
Race the Dragon is a charity event, hosted by Worcester Dragon Boat Racing Club. It has been held annually, except for the “covid years”, for over 25 years right in the heart of Worcester on the River Severn. Up to 30 teams enter each year to compete for Open, Women’s, Mixed and Under 18 trophies, raising thousands of pounds for charity. With parking and the City centre both in easy walking distance, Race the Dragon is a family friendly event that is fun to watch and to be part of. Come along to support teams and cheer them on as they race throughout the day.
One group who took part in 2019 was the Worcester Chinese Association who made a fantastic video of their day.
