Dragon Boat Racing is one of the most exciting, competitive and inclusive water sports as well as one of the fastest growing water sports that you can take part in world wide.
In the UK there are numerous Dragon Boat events, many for charity, raising thousands of pounds. There is also a National League with two divisions, Premier and Standard, run by the British Dragon Boat Association.
In International racing there are generally 18-20 paddlers in a Standard size dragon boat, plus a drummer and a helm (who steers the boat). Some clubs also race in Small boats, with 8-10 paddlers, plus a drummer and helm.
Dragon Boat Racing first featured competitively in the UK in September 1980 at the Hong Kong in London Chinese Festival. Great Britain has been involved in International competition since 1995. GB squads have competed in every European and World Championships held since then.
Dragon Boating is a great way to get fit, keep fit, have fun and make new friends.
