Dragon Boat Racing in Worcester
After a day of Christmas celebrations, what could be better than a paddle to the Camp pub at Grimley!

On Saturday & Sunday 21st & 22nd September 2024, Worcester Dragons raced at the BDA Nationals event at the National Watersports Centre, Holme Pierpoint, Nottingham. This is the “Grande Finale” of the Dragon Boat Racing season. We raced in Mixed, Ladies and Seniors categories across 200m, 500m & 2000m distances.
This was the first race event for many of our new paddlers. Not only did our new paddlers experience racing, but we also used Black Dragon, our shiny new race boat.

We paddled up to the Camp at Grimley, moored up, had a pint (or two), then paddled back!

We had a great time at our Open Evening, welcoming new people who came along to look at the sport we all enjoy. The visitors experienced dragon boating and also got the chance to be involved in races, which was great fun. Several of the attendees are now joining the club so they can carry on building their fitness and having fun on the water!
Dragon boating is a fantastic way of getting fit, meeting new people and making new friends, learning some great skills and challenging yourself.
See you on the water!

We are part of the Worcester Festival!
In May 2024, several Worcester paddlers took part in the 5th International Dragon Boat Festival in Barcelona. Medals were won, including a Gold in a very competitive 500m… where we beat Canada by a “nose”!
